Medical center, Make-A-Wish NM grant one-on-one animal experience wish to teen

Seriyah and her family

Memorial Medical Center and Make-A-Wish New Mexico granted a wish to a Las Cruces teenager who's contending with multiple diagnoses to experience a one-on-one animal experience in San Diego.

Both organizations granted the wish to 16-year-old Seriyah Borunda on Monday.

Borunda has been diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

Borunda is nonverbal and uses a wheelchair, but loves animals, and eating mashed potatoes and banana pudding.

Make-A-Wish New Mexico will be sending Borunda to San Diego at the end of the month for the one-on-one animal experience.

Memorial Medical Center hosted a mashed potatoes and banana pudding dessert meal for Borunda and her family before they leave for San Diego because those are Seriyah’s favorite foods.

They are almost half way to their $10,000 goal, said Make-A-Wish development officer, Sydney Graczyk.
