Officials seeking input on proposed Paso del Norte Trail

The trail will stretch about 60 miles from Anthony to San Elizario.

A public meeting will be held Wednesday night to talk about the proposed Paso del Norte Trail.

It will stretch about 60 miles from Anthony to San Elizario.

Construction has already started on the trail, which runs near Riverside High School.

The goal is to develop a dynamic hike trail to promote health and active living, connect neighborhoods to other amenities, and to highlight the Rio Grande.

The health foundation is contributing $2.5 million for the part of the trail that runs from Ascarate Park to Riverside High School. The city of El Paso is contributing $300,000 for amenities.

Officials are encouraging people to show up to Wednesday night's meeting to give their input on the project.

The public meeting starts at 6 p.m.

It will be held at the Pat O'Rourke Recreation center located on 901 S. Virginia St.
