New Columbus Port of Entry coming along
Construction for the new port of entry in Columbus, New Mexico will begin following Tuesday’s ground-breaking.
Dignitaries from U.S. General Services Administration, Sen. Tom Udall, Sen. Martin Heinrich, U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce, U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the State of New Mexico and the Village of Columbus were on site.
The standing facility was designed to accommodate visitors and a few commercial vehicles entering the U.S.
The new port of entry will have a new administration building with expanded pedestrian inspections areas and new lanes to all their inspection areas.
