Two new bridge roads on US 85 from Paisano to Sunland Park are now open, which will better connect drivers from central to west El Paso without using the freeway.
The Texas Department of Transportation El Paso opened the connection Saturday night.
Drivers can now enter the Sunland Park flyover ramp going eastbound to enter onto US 85, which will take you to Paisano.
That new road is right next to the I-10 entrance and it continues on toward downtown El Paso.
“I think that's great. I just think it does need to be known to more people because everybody just get stuck using the same way to go back home," said Aljandra Ortiz from downtown El Paso.
The other bridge road on Paisano is right next to the McNutt Road exit going west. That entrance is near Paisano and Doniphan. That route will take you onto US 85 and back to the Sunland Park interchange without using I-10.
Some El Pasoans tell CBS4 they are ready to use the new road.
"That's going to help out a lot. Last time I drove to Western Playland, I was stuck in traffic for two hours," said Careli Ortiz from downtown El Paso.
TX-dot says they still have other projects to complete in that area, which will help drivers going to other parts of El Paso from the west side.
