Emergency crews were at the scene of a single-vehicle rollover crash Friday morning in central El Paso.

The crash was reported just before 8 a.m. in the 1100 block of East Schuster Avenue near Virginia Street in front of El Paso High School.

Police officer J. Andrew Morales, who was driving alone, lost control of the patrol vehicle, said El Paso police spokesman Darrel Petry.

The vehicle struck a curb and rolled over.

Morales suffered minor injuries, Petry said.

The 1-year veteran was cited for failure to control speed.

Special traffic investigators were on the scene collecting evidence throughout the morning.

No other injuries were reported.

North Virginia Street and East Schuster Avenue were blocked off to motorists, but pedestrian traffic was allowed.
