Police: Man who used note to rob 7-Eleven was found with drugs
A 42-year-old man accused of trying to rob a 7-Eleven store was arrested early Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to the convenience store at 6330 Airport Road after a panic alarm was activated.
According to police, Rudolfo Benavides handed the clerk a threatening note demanding money.
Benavides left the store without any money after the alarm was activated, police said.
After searching the area, police discovered Benavides may be staying at the nearby Motel 6.
Officers found him inside a room, and he was arrested, police said.
Benavides was also found to be carrying 4.3 grams of crack cocaine on his person and 1.1 grams of heroin in his room, police said.
Benavides faces charges of robbery and possession of a controlled substance. His bond totaled $75,000.
