Snow expected in the Borderland, Friday into the weekend

Wintry weather rolls through Doña Ana County

The weather advisory for Las Cruces and El Paso goes into effect at 10 a.m. on Friday and isn’t expected to end until 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Las Cruces is expected to get 1-3 inches of snow, and although El Paso isn't' expected to get as much, they will see about a half inch to 2 inches depending on the weather.

You should plan on difficult travel conditions. Snow looks most possible on Friday morning and evening through Saturday morning?.

Prepare for snow-covered roads and limited visibility while driving. During the storm, you should plan to stay off the roads if you can. If not, drive slow, be aware and extra cautious.

According to the El Paso Office of Emergency Management said the Borderland could see up to 4-6 inches of snow.

Going into 2019, the City of Las Cruces has more than $3 million set aside to help make driving through these weather conditions safer for the public.

This money will help clear stormwater on the roadways and help improve flood control.

Construction will include new sidewalks, drainage, street lighting, new signs and pavement.

The City of Las Cruces says these improvements will better serve the residents during weather conditions like these.
