A Facebook video shows what appears to be a man walking out of a west El Paso Applebee’s making racist comments toward a family for reportedly speaking Spanish in the restroom.

The Facebook video posted on Sept. 18 by Jose Prieto reads that a few days ago, Prieto and his friends went to the restaurant to celebrate birthdays when a man in his 30s assaulted them.

“We were speaking Spanish in the restroom and this man just started calling us ‘(Expletive) Mexicans you should go back to your own country.’”

Warning, the following video contains expletive language

Prieto said the man followed them to the parking lot, and he started recording.

“I’d rather go to jail than live in an America where a piece of (expletive) like you (lives),” the man says.

He later says, “Piece of (expletive) Mexicans do whatever the (expletive) they want.”

The incident appears to have happened at the Applebee’s on Mesa Street near Mesa Hills Drive.

CBS4 reached out to Applebee’s for comment and are awaiting their response.

Police said they received a call around 6:30 p.m. Monday about an intoxicated person causing a disturbance. When officers arrived, both parties left the scene.

Management told officers that a drunk man was yelling at customers, police said.
