Winterfest kicks off in the Borderland this weekend
The third annual Winterfest makes its debut on Sunday in downtown El Paso.
Winterfest will open on Sunday along with the traditional celebration of lights parade and the tree lighting ceremony at San Jacinto Plaza.
The parade for the opening event will start at 5 p.m and the lighting ceremony will follow after at 5:55 p.m.
There will be an ice skating rink, a life-size snow globe and a winter-themed café, winter-themed attractions, holiday shopping, seasonal food and drinks, holiday lights and more.
San Jacinto Plaza will also host holiday entertainment every Thursday through Sunday of the season.
This year, the event is reaching out to visitors from across the border and the region to invite them to join in on the holiday fun.
Travelers at the El Paso airport will be welcomed during the holiday season as Winterfest has expanded into one of the gateways to the city.
The event begins on Sunday and ends Jan. 6.
