YISD teachers receive new laptops for the school year

Ysleta Independent School District

The Ysleta Independent School District is getting ready for the upcoming school year with new technology.

The district handed out new MacBook Air and Windows laptops to all full-time teachers and librarians.

"This is the world of technology now. And, and we've got to bring our teachers up to speed with it," said Connie Woodruff, YISD School Board Presidentschool board president.

Teachers spent the day training on their new laptops. It's an investment in the future.

"In the scheme of things, it's not just about grades, it's not just about testing. It's about making sure that kids can move forward in college readiness, and career readiness," said Woodruff.

More than 2,500 laptops will be handed out, according to district officials.

They will be issued until the start of the 2018, 2019 school year.
