An Albuquerque off-duty police officer was arrested after crashing his police unit while drunk, police said.

Joshua Malecki said he had a fight with his wife and had a drink and a shot before driving the police car and crashing it, KRQE reports.

Malecki then called a friend to pick him up and take him home, leaving the unit behind.

The officer called his supervisor when he got home but never called 911. When a fellow officer showed up at this home, he said Malecki’s eyes were bloodshot and he smelled of alcohol, according to the article by KRQE.

Malecki failed a breathalyzer test and was jailed but released on bond. He was placed on paid leave pending the investigation.
