NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The 28-year-old woman who murdered three 9-year-olds and three adults at The Covenant School in Nashville also targeted other locations, according to authorities.
Metro Nashville Police Department Chief John Drake on Tuesday spoke with media, saying his department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are combing through a manifesto and writings left behind by shooter Audrey Elizabeth Hale.
Drake previously said investigators discovered other locations targeted by Hale, but added Hale had detailed drawings of The Covenant School and an "other school." Before Tuesday, Drake had stated security factors at the other "location" could have kept it from being targeted.
Police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford told WZTV police would not expand any further on the "other school" due to the investigation.
Drake has said repeatedly Hale had detailed drawings and writings of the assaults that would take place.
Many questions remain in the investigation, including a motive, which police have yet to identify.
Drake said Hale was a former student at the school and police said she was a "biological female" who identified as transgender. Markings made by Hale on one of the rifles also made references to the name "Aiden," which was used on Hale's social media sites.
Police said Hale was receiving treatment for an emotional disorder and had legally purchased seven weapons from five local gun retailers in recent years.
Hale's parents told police they didn't believe Hale should have a weapon and believed she had sold the only one in her possession, but Hale hid the other weapons from them.
