EL PASO, Texas (CBS4) — La Posada Home was founded by a Franciscan nun 34 years ago.
“She saw the need for the protection of families who were escaping domestic violence,” said Monica Martinez the director of the La Posada Home.
La Posada Home has 15 bedrooms and fit up to 50 families.
“These people need a place to go, and La Posada offers them a place to go,” said Michael Gopin. “it’s a wonderful place.”
“We serve about 50 people, but with COVID-19 we input safety measures, so now it’s about 30-35 people,” said Martinez. “And about 25 of those are children.”
“This is a safe home and no one needs to live in fear,” said Sandra Diaz.
“There is a lot of expenses to running an organization like this,” said Gopin.
The Pay It Forward team presented La Posada with a check to help with their expenses.
“We’ve been here 34 years and we’ll continue to be here until El Paso needs us,” said Martinez.
La Posada is located at 1020 N Campbell Street.
