EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A man was arrested for stealing a United States Postal Service van from El Paso and leading deputies on a chase in Van Horn, Texas.
23-year-old Deminte Jackson from Phoenix, Arizona reportedly stole the truck Wednesday morning, Culberson County Sheriff Oscar Carrillo stated on Facebook.
Carillo said that deputies saw the USPS van parked along a dirt road near the Sheriff's Office firing range in the east of town.
Deputies reportedly interrupted Jackson as he was opening mail and packages.

Jackson took off leading deputies on a chase. Officials said he drove onto the Van Horn Airport runway.
Jackson was eventually taken into custody and will be surrendered to U.S. Postal authorities for prosecution, Carrillo stated.
Officials with USPS said the vehicle and its contents were recovered and are being processed.
Once processing is complete, the mail will be released to the U.S. Postal Service for delivery.
Any customers with damaged mail will be properly notified.
The case remains under investigation.
