After dazzling with the Conquistadores for four seasons, quarterback Steven Montez got his first chance to shine for Colorado, leading his Buffaloes to a 41-38 win at Oregon Saturday in Eugene.

The sophomore Montez finished the day completing 23 of his 32 passes, three touchdowns and two interceptions. The most crucial play came midway through the fourth quarter with his team trailing 38-33, as Montez connected with wide receiver Bryce Bobo on a go-ahead score that ultimately was the difference.

Montez also lead the team in rushing with 127 yards on the ground and one touchdown.

Colorado (3-1) returns to action next Saturday hosting Oregon State.
