Source: UTEP Athletics looking at 4 candidates for men's basketball team

Four possible candidates for UTEP's men's basketball team

The window to hire a new head men’s basketball coach is wide open for University of Texas-El Paso. Sources say athletic director Jim Senter and staff members were in Dallas this past weekend to interview candidates while the UTEP men’s basketball team played at the University of North Texas.

“I cannot and will not be discussing details about the search or any possible candidates,” Senter said. “That is out out of respect to the candidates themselves and the need for confidentiality.”

Sources confirm to CBS4 that Senter interviewed former Miner and now Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Greg Foster, as well as Ray Harper (Jacksonville State), Randy Rahe (Weber State) and Joe Dooley (Florida Gulf Coast).

“I know there is a lot of curiosity and interest from Miner Nation,” said Senter. “This is still early in the process.”
