Just a Number: Float Fit Fun
It's called Float Fit-- it's the exercise program you do, while balancing on the water.
This week in Just a Number, I show you why it’s making waves.
Kayla Suarez with the YWCA of El Paso says the class is new, “It's something that you can't do a lot of other places, and that really attracted us to it.”
So I took my first class at the YWCA, and I can tell you that it's a lot harder than it looks.
“The moment you step on the board, your core is engaged, your legs are engaged because you have to stay balanced,” says Suarez.
The class involves a board that you stand and balance on called an AquaBase. A certified Float Fit instructor takes you through a series of yoga-inspired and high intensity interval training exercises.
“We do anything from squats, burpees, push-ups,”says instructor Jose Vidana.
The routine engages muscles throughout your entire body, and you can burn up to 400 calories in 30 minutes. You do it all while constantly engaging your sea legs fighting to stay afloat.
Vidana says, “you are using your abs and you are using all your legs as well. You are always working on those legs.”
Balance is key throughout the class, but overall it’s fun.
Float Fit is perfect for you, if you’re looking for unique ways to exercise.
